Got to the beach and was greeted by a 22 knot wind and sunshine. It had
been windier earlier, so I quickly got out on the water with my 5m and big
board.... Not enough wind so i bobbled out, floated downwind, fell inhad a
nightmare waterstarting and the floated downwind again. Eventually got
planing on the way in. Thought it felt as though the wind had picked up, so
gave it another go. Just got onto the plane and once quite a way out, was
planing nicely. Gybed and headed back to the beach and managed to hold my
ground, so gybed early and had another run to gain some ground upwind. this
time I was maxed out and flying along...Ended up where I started from, so
stayed out. Now really well-powered up and having a lovely time. Some nice
2-3 foot waves and plenty of power. The sun was shining and there was a
really ice autumnal light which just made things even better. After a while
I was getting too overpowered so cam in and put some more downhaul and
outhaul on. I contemplated changing down to the smaller board, but stuck
with the bigger one. The wind kept blowing at around 25 knots, the sun kept
shining and I had a lovely time blating around on my own... That board can
be quite fast when well powered up with a small sail too.
